PUMA case study
THE CHALLENGE
Dependence on a Local Supplier: There could be risks associated with not exploring international solutions with even higher standards. Reliance on a single supplier could limit the diversity of options and innovation.
Need for Continuous Improvement: Despite initial confidence, Puma must continue to look for continuous improvements in cars and other equipment. Alutipo's adaptability and responsiveness will be crucial to maintaining efficiency and quality.
Evaluación de Costos y Beneficios: Puma must weigh the costs and benefits of working with a local versus an international supplier. Do the cost savings justify any potential limitations in quality or innovation?
THE SOLUTION
- Proposal and Design: A modular design was proposed that would allow for rapid construction and upgrades as needed. Meetings were held between the teams of both companies to agree on the details.
- Positive Feedback:After the initial delivery of desks and carts, Puma received positive feedback from pilots. Staff ergonomics improved, and the adaptability of the modular system was key to adjusting other aspects, such as light structure and office organization.
- Continuous Improvement:Puma maintained the principle of continuous improvement and considered Alutipo as a strategic partner. The choice of KNAPP as a logistics solutions integrator also contributed to the success of the project.
- Second Stage of Carts: Currently, they are executing the second stage of carriages. They are looking for validated wheels and reinforcements in critical points. Alutipo is positioned as the best option as it meets the standards and requirements of the client.
- Engineering and Execution Team: Alutipo has a highly trained and adaptable engineering team. Its execution staff is prepared to create solutions, works and improvements in all areas of the distribution center.

ADDED VALUE
The proposed desks included integrated scales and printers. In addition, they offered value-added services, such as additional product counting. This was especially relevant to Puma, as they value customer satisfaction and material handling efficiency.
In short, the collaboration with Alutipo has allowed Puma to optimize its operation and maintain high quality standards.
